Metropolitan Chess Club

Mark Oakden has added a very useful Google Maps link showing the locations of the clubs in the Middlesex 2nd Division to the Links Page.  

The club AGM took place on 20th September - here are some photos from the prizegiving and the end of season captains' reports.

One Season at Metropolitan

Final standings in the Summer tournaments:

Ian Gallagher and Zafer Djabri share the Championship with 5.5/7, both undefeated.

The Naumann is also split between Charlie Cooke and Soumen Roy with 4/6.

Gaurav Sharma took the Silver King with 7/9 and Phil Lewis the Silver Queen with a decisive 6.5/7.

 

Metropolitan Knights travelled to Northampton to play Gloucester in the final of the National Club Major section on the 15th July.

Congratulations to Zafer Djabri and Ian Calvert who both played in the Middlesex U175 team that beat Surrey 8.5- 7.5 in a closely contested final on the 7th July.

 

A tough final weekend faced us, with the teams pushing for promotion strengthening for the last three games. This proved to be true in our first game as Celtic Tigers wheeled out an IM for their promotion push.

Metropolitan Rooks eliminated in the first round of the Major Plate Competition.
